All women, from early adolescence to later adulthood, seek health care that addresses their complex health needs. Our women’s health services are holistic, complementing our primary care services by focusing on women’s reproductive health and wellness.

Peri-menopause

Generally begins as a woman’s body gradually stops producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone. During perimenopause, a woman may experience irregular periods, premenstrual symptoms, anxiety, depression, mood swings, fatigue, weight changes and increased cramping and hot flashes.

Menopause

Begins when the irregular periods have progressed to the point where a woman’s periods have ceased for at least twelve months. During this time, women can experience a number of bodily changes, from hot flashes to fatigue and more.

Menstrual Irregularities/Pain

Menstrual pain and irregularities can be caused by many different contributing factors including diet, exercise, lifestyle and family history. We perform a thorough health history questionnaire to determine the root cause of your signs and symptom, which includes tongue and pulse diagnosis.

Stress and the Menstrual Cycle

Stress contributes enormously to overall and can contribute to the frequency missed periods, shorten or prolonged periods and PMS.  Acupuncture and custom herbal formulas are very effective in helping to manage stress and balance hormones.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition that is becoming more commonly diagnosed in women between ages of 25-40.  It is a condition where the endometrial tissue begins growing outside of the uterus.  This leads to symptoms such as pelvic and abdominal pain, painful periods, pre-menstrual spotting, and infertility. Acupuncture, herbs and dietary changes are key to managing your symptoms.
