What Is Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the most popular practices used in ancient Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is an alternative way of creating balance and healing naturally within your body. Acupuncture Practitioners use hair fine needles to stimulate different areas or meridians of the body. Acupuncture needles stimulate what is called Qi (Chee) or vital energy circulating in your body, Qi flows within these pathways referred to as meridians. These meridians or pathways are similar to rivers within your body. Wherever the river flows, it brings a supply of water that nourishes the life and land, the plants and people within it’s eco-system. It is vital to health that Qi, just like a river, flows freely throughout the body, giving nourishment to all of your cells, organs, tissues and muscles.

According To Science

Studies done on acupuncture have proven that it can successfully alleviate pain in the body that is acute or chronic. For example, neck pain, lower back pain, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, menstrual cramps and even digestion and stomach pain. It also has the ability to lower the frequency of migraines and tension headaches. This is why acupuncture is a good option for people that suffer from chronic headache and migraine pain.

A 2012 study done by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics aimed to determine the effect of acupuncture for four chronic pain conditions. It’s very promising! In addition, acupuncture proves to be beneficial for other health conditions too including, anxiety, depression, menopause, infertility, morning sickness, insomnia and digestive disorders.

Safety And Side Effects

The FDA regulates acupuncture, as well as, the State of California, which has an acupuncture Licensing Board. The requirements are stringent that acupuncture needles be “sterile, nontoxic, and for single use by qualified, Board Certified & Licensed practitioners only.” To date, there have been very few complications reported from the use of acupuncture needles by qualified Practitioners.

Acupuncture and (TCM) are safe, drug-free and extremely effective. It’s a natural, holistic approach that carefully considers your overall wellbeing to determine a whole body approach that facilitates optimal health and healing.
